One of my nighttime routines is watching YouTube immediately after lying in bed, and in particular ASMR as it puts me to sleep right away. If I’m not yet ready to fall asleep, I may decide to watch some Netflix first. So I lay down, cover up, lower the screen brightness to the minimum and slowly doze off; except that last part of dosing off doesn’t usually go so slowly or smoothly.
Without a Phone Support
“Not smoothly” is really a nice way to put it. The process of watching something at night in bed is terribly cumbersome for me. First, I have to make sure that my phone is charged; wouldn’t want to wake up with no battery. Second, I have to arrange one pillow on each side of me, to rest my arms while holding the phone. Sometimes I have a pillow on my chest as well. Third, I’ve created a slit in the phone cover to allow me to better hold my phone horizontally. The slit goes in between two of my fingers and the cover rests on the back of my hand.
Of course, every time I switch sides I have to readjust which makes it harder for me to fall asleep. Not to mention, having to crank my neck in order to watch videos at all. Also, as I’m falling asleep, I have to remember to stop and put my phone away; otherwise I may lose it in between the pillows. This whole process takes some of the fun away from my evening entertainment and/or relaxation.
With a Cheap Phone Support
I tried a cheap phone holder with a clamp but was not satisfied with it. The clamp didn’t go on everything and it also didn’t have a strong grip. Every time I adjusted the phone’s position, the clamp moved too, until it eventually fell off. Changing the viewing position was also not easy. The holder had a bendable arm but it needed a little more force put into it before bending, as the material was not the most flexible, and in the end, I still could not get the ideal position.
One other issue with the cheap phone support was that it kept shaking every time I scrolled down. That got really annoying especially when my finger would accidentally bump into the screen and click on something that I didn’t intend to watch. Eventually, I would end up holding the phone with my other hand while scrolling, even when it was still in the support.
Bluesphere doesn’t have any of the issues of a cheap phone holder. It has 3 methods of installment: as a stand, using a clamp or using an adjustable clip for surfaces that you can’t clamp things onto. So it won’t fall out or move. You can also bring the phone to any position due to the two easily-adjustable arms. When you’re done watching, you can simply push it aside. It also doesn’t shake while scrolling and you don’t even need to plug your phone in the charger as the support charges it wirelessly.
Perhaps now falling asleep smoothly can actually become a reality for me. However, even if your nighttime routine is not that important to you, Bluesphere can be used for other purposes too. You could follow a meal recipe on video while cooking or video chat with friends while eating. I can see a lot of useful applications for it and that is why I am determined to buy it.
