The colonization of mars.
On September 27th, 2016, in the IAC (International Astronautical congress) in Mexico, Elon musk announced that the objective fixed for his spaceX company and his collaborators will be of colonized Mars before 2024.
His motivation is clear: ” if we always stay on Earth, there will be at the end an event of massive extinction. The alternative is to become a civilization travelling in the space, and a sort multi-planets. It is what we want. ”
- The first problem which appears in such a project is the means of transportation.
- The second is the life on the planet.
- How to take enough Man towards a destination which is at best in 55,7 million kilometers?
- How to survive extreme conditions?
… How to come back to earth?

The spaceship which you see in the beginning of video is 122 meters high and embarks at least 100 people. Enfaite, the only spaceship is 49,50 meters high and 17 meters in diameter but it is necessary to count the propellers which will produce a push of 28,730,000 lb. Elon Musk announces that would be needed 1 million people to be able to establish a colony on Mars that is 10 000 journeys of 100 people!

I should rather say the industrial life because to be able to assure a potential return or move between planets, the colonists will have no other choices which to produce their own fuel by means of the resources present on Mars such as the water and the carbon dioxides.
This solution obliges the future colonists to embark enough equipments for building autonomous systems which can harvest Martian resources but also transform them.
If the resources present on the spot are not sufficient), the colonists cannot come back to earth. They inevitably have to turn to systems self-sufficient and assure the maintenance.
It is obvious that such a project is going to take a long period of time (because the optimal period for a take-off is every 26 months!) but also be very expensive.
Today with our technologic ways, the optimistic cost of a journey on Mars for a single person shall raise(bring up) to 10 billion dollars. Elon musk wants to come down to 200 000 dollars.
He hopes interested the financial private sector to find investors, he asserts saving up from his part on his to be able to invest in the multi-global life project.
Indeed the spaceship would be capable of settling on Europe, the moon of Jupiter but also Titan and Encelade, the moons of Saturn.
