VEGER VP-0520 5000mAh Power Bank: Owner Review
July 26, 2019
I’m a freelancer and an online business owner. If I’m not using my laptop, I’m mostly on my phone checking emails and managing my business page either on Instagram or Facebook. I find it more convenient to just use my phone especially when I’m outside. With that, having a power bank with me has become a necessity because I can always charge my phone while on the go.
I was using a bulky power bank before so I decided to purchase a slim one, something that will easily fit even in my small bags or wallet. Luckily there was a sale that time so I immediately purchased this power bank and have been using it for three weeks now. Here is a quick review and I hope this will provide valuable information that can help you decide if you also want to purchase one.

These can be seen on the box packaging but aren’t described in details and I can’t find any information even from their website. With that, I won’t be able to expound on the features mentioned above as these are happening internally on the product.
Some of the Veger power banks only come with a hard plastic case but this model comes with a neat looking box. It contains other information about the product as well as the stickers that can prove its authenticity. The package comes with a micro USB cable, manual and warranty card.
Product Authenticity Verification
I find this very important especially when purchasing electronic items. It’s nice if we can verify that what we have is indeed authentic. On the upper right corner of the box, you’ll see the gold hologram sticker which has Veger logo and a text that says 100% original. While at the back, you’ll see the green sticker at the lower right corner. It has a QR code and something that says, “Scratch Coating”. When you scratch that, it will reveal the 16-digit anti-fake code. Just go to Veger’s Anti-Fake page and input the 16-digit code.
You’ll get a confirmation message that it is a VEGER original product. I am confident that it is authentic since I bought it from their flagship store here in the Philippines. But being able to check and verify it yourself is a good thing too.
Design and Built
Veger VP-0520 is very slim, lightweight and super handy. It is metallic which makes it really elegant and has almost the same feel and size as my iPhone 6. I especially love that for this model, they have rose gold color variation which is perfect for my rose gold iPhone case. They also have it in black and silver if you prefer a simpler color.
Performance: How Long Did It Take To Fully Charge The Power Bank?
When I received it, I was able to power it on so to check if it’s working, I immediately used it on my phone which was at 93% that time. It only added 4% to my iPhone’s battery before it was emptied. I recharge the power bank and it took 3.5 hours before it was fully charged. During the first 1.5 hours of charging the power bank, it became a bit hot but after a while, it also cooled down.
Performance: How Many Times Was It Able To Recharge An iPhone 6?
iPhone 6 has 1180mAh battery so ideally, Veger’s 5000mAh power bank should be able to recharge my phone 2.8 times. And it was able to recharge it twice (from 0% to 100%) and another one at 28% before it finally got emptied again. It also took about 3 hours before it can fully charge my phone.
After it fully charged my phone for the first time, the power bank’s 4 LED lights are still on. Which based on the manual, this means that the power bank still has at least a minimum of 75% charge.
Value for Money
The original price of Veger VP-0520 is 1,299PHP (approximately 26USD) but fortunately, I got it on sale for only 319PHP (approximately 6.5USD). That’s a huge saving for me considering the performance and quality of the product. But if it’s not on sale that time, I would rather buy the 10,000mAh model which only costs 1,899PHP (approximately 38USD). Twice the capacity but the original price difference is not that big.
- Affordable price
- Elegant design
- Has an anti-fake code for authenticity verification
- Being offered in other color variation aside from black or white
- Doesn’t come with lighting cable for iPhone users
- Only one USB output so you can only charge one device at a time
- The USB output port is a bit tight and sometimes I had a hard time pulling out the cable
- The official website doesn’t have enough information about the products and a detailed explanation of the features
- Not a fast charger
We all have different needs and that can determine the factors that we have to consider in buying a power bank. Personally, I have to consider the battery of my smartphone, the number of devices that I need to charge, the capacity of the power bank, input and output ports, size, quality, and price. In my case, Veger’s VP-0520 5000mAh power bank clearly passed all the factors that are important to me.
If your smartphone has a higher battery capacity or you need more than one output ports, and you don’t mind a bit bulky size, then you may consider another model of Veger power banks. But if you’re like me and using just an iPhone 6 while on the go, this can be perfect for you too.
In three weeks of using it, I would say it is consistent with its performance and charging times. So overall, I would rate this as 8/10.
