Hoverboard is the latest trend in the technology market. Be it a common person or celebrities, everyone is jumping on the hoverboard-bandwagon and buying themselves their very own self-balancing pair of wheels. Before you decide to buy a hoverboard, there are a few things you need to consider for an optimum experience.
1. Choose a Reputable Vendor
Most people look up on Craigslist, Amazon or eBay for their hoverboard purchases. Depending on the vendor, buying your board can be a risky business. If you buy your hoverboard from an authorized retailer, you will have a better rate of accountability, and you can always contact the seller yourself. If you buy it online, then make sure you at least inspect the battery as soon as it arrives.
2. Choose a Good Return Policy
Hoverboard is an electronic item, and all electronic items should be bought only if they come with a good return policy. If a company or vendor is authentic, they will offer a return policy of at least 30 days. You should be careful if the policy is any less than that.
3. Consider the Wheel Size
Wheel size will not matter if you are buying your hoverboard for indoor use only. However, if you want to use your hoverboard outside, then you need to decide on an optimum wheel size. Depending on the bumps or cracks you encounter on a daily basis, you will need to pick either a 6.5 inch or an 8 inch wheel hub. If you want to use your hoverboard for longer distances, go for a 10 inch wheel size.
4. Consider Your Hoverboard Running Power
Depending on the size of the hoverboard, the running motor will vary accordingly. Moreover, the motor power is directly related to the size of the wheel. For example, if you opt for a 10 inch wheel, you will need to pair it up with a 700 Watt motor. 600 Watt motor is a good option for 8 inch wheel, and a 500 Watt motor is good for 6.5 inch wheel. If your motor does not match with your wheel size, riding a hoverboard will become extremely difficult.
5. Consider Your Battery
If your hoverboard comes with a lower-grade battery, you’re in trouble. Choose a reliable brand battery as your battery will be the core of your hoverboard. Make sure you avoid Lithium-based battery, as they can get overheated and catch fire if overcharged or discharged too much. Moreover, they do not react well in extreme weathers. LG and Samsung have pioneered themselves in making good hoverboard batteries, with an even charge throughout, and a proper circuitry that stops charging once complete.
With so many hoverboard options out in the market, the buying process can become overwhelming. Not all hoverboards are the same, they all have different features and capabilities. Make sure you take your time to decide the right parameters for your hoverboard, in order to get the best bargain, and a long-lasting comfortable ride.
